For us sustainability is the essential principle on which our actions are based. Our goal is to build and operate impressive treetop walks and to provide nature-immersive leisure and outdoor adventure facilities.
By offering unique nature experiences in connection with subtle environmental education we'd like to contribute to ecological awareness and motivate people to act sustainably.
EAK Ireland Treetop Walks was founded as a Joint Venture between Irish company Carlingford Adventure and Erlebnis Akademie AG (eak AG) from Germany, who have already successfully implemented this mission with treetop walks across 12 locations within Europe and 1 location in Canada. The two companies plan to work together to pinpoint ideal locations and create amazing treetop walk attractions across Ireland and the UK.
The company’s first project in Ireland is the Treetop Walk Avondale which is part of “Beyond the Trees Avondale”, a joint project of EAK Ireland Treetop Walks with Coillte, Ireland's state forestry company and Failte Ireland.
The Treetop Walk Avondale consists of a 38-meter-high observation tower, a 653-meter-long pathway through the treetops and an underground tunnel. We are delighted that the wood for Ireland's first treetop walk has come from Ireland, much of it from local forests in Wicklow.

Learning stations along the pathway involve the environmental education aspect in an interesting and thought-provoking manner. Fun elements such as activity stations along the route and a 90-metre tunnel slide from the top of the tower promise fun and excitement for all ages. All of eak’s treetop walks are designed to be easily accessible and offer 'access for all' to wheelchairs, prams and elderly customers. All this makes treetop walks perfect excursion destinations and gives forest access to a wide range of visitors.
As a company planning for the long-term we are convinced that the ecological orientation of our treetop walks and locations play an essential role in reaching this goal. Therefore, we consider the environment in all of our decisions.
We strictly use certified, easily renewable materials and obtain the majority of our wood from sustainable sources.
